Manuel Antonio National Park in Quepos is located 1 hour and 30 minutes south of Jaco Beach and was declared a national park in 1972. It is a natural habitat for species such as the endangered squirrel monkey (endemic to the area), capuchin monkey, raccoon, three-toed sloth and three-toed sloth, white-crowned brown bear, brown pelican, black-necked hawk, and green hawk.
